Leather Dash

Anyone have an early model 997 with a leather dash, and use it as a daily driver? I was wondering how the dash is holding up. Back in the 80s when Porsche put leather dashes in cars (primarily 928), they tended to dry out and shrink, looking very bad.
The current ones look better, but just curious how they hold up. They look nice, but seems like a bad idea.

Yes,
I have a late 05 997S Cab with Black Leather dash, used every day 32,000 miles now.
Dash looks perfect (well after i wipe the dust off from driving with the top down).
I treat it with leather cleaner and conditioner perhaps 3-4 times a year... the stuff in the kit from Autopia.. Sonus ?? perhaps
My 996 also had leather dash, and it seemed to be a stiffer or coarser (dryer perhaps) leather... that never warped though... also a daily driver.

The leather dash I had in my 1981 911 held up very well,--but then the car was always garaged and leather treated. It was far superior to the vinyl which would off-gas and fog up the windshield. My 06 dash is holding up extremely well, but it is only half leather these days unless you go with the exclusive option to have the vents and front speaker covered in leather, too.

That is my concern also. I am looking at a 997S now with leather dash, but concerned how it will hold up in North Carolina summers. My current 997S has the standard dash, and I am perfectly happy with that. I just don't know if I should avoid the leather dash.

Years ago the non-leather dashes were bad for the out-gassing they produced on the inside of the windshield. I'd take a leather dash anyday over a vinyl one.

Since Porsche started pre dehydrating the leather, they have been more immune from shrinkage.
My previous 7 year old 996 4S had no issues, I did clean/treat the leather a few times a year and kept it covered when I had to park in the sun. The 996 has a seperate console top and some have reported an increase in the gap in the center corner.
Being a single piece cosole, I assume the 997 is better off.

I have a 2005 C2 with 70k miles, parked outdoors during the day without a sunscreen. Have not had the interior detailed, and have not applied any interior cleaning products. Definitely not a garage queen. Still looks great!
