Default New Brakes at 11,350 mi

well, my spirited driving has worn out my brakes. The rotors have some 3-4mm cracks in them and a lip on the rotor developing on the outside edge. Looks like the rears are fine.

right now i'm planning to replace them unless there are dissenting opinions....

thoughts appreciated.

If you are tracking often you may want to think about going with slotted rotors vs cross drilled. The cross drilled are fine for the street but on the track the heat causes the cracks.

If you got these cracks from only street driving, all I can say is bravo!

LOL...

From your Avatar it looks like you track the car. If you track the car the rotors have to be replaced, don't worry about having them turned.

No tracking = 30,000miles so far on the original pads/discs for me.

Amazing.

The issue with slotted is that they cost many times more than cross drilled rotors. You can get Zimmermans for $130. per pretty much anywhere. Brembo's 2-piece slotted rotors cost many times that and I don't think the cost difference is worth it for a street/track car....

Very limited options for 997S rotors. While OEM won't last as long as slotted, they only cost about $600 a set of 4. I went through 2 sets of fronts for every set of rear. So, $300F + $300F + $300R lasted me a very long time. I'd love to try a set of 2-piece for the weight savings, but it's hard to get past the initial purchase price.

Are the 997S rotors 350 mm? If yes, perhaps the DeMan slotted rotors fit? Very good price performance ratio.

Just picked up the car from the dealer. i went with stock brakes and rotors, minus the vibration dampeners since i'll be swapping out pagid yellows for the track. i had the alternative to put in zimmermans but prefer the painted center which gets all yucky if it's not painted.

i didn't need rotors all around which drove me away from going with slotted since i don't need to swap out the rears. the stock perform very well on the track in any regard.

lots more fun ahead! thanks for the comments
