Default Setting auto-lock function

Does anyone know if setting the door locks to automatically lock after the car starts rolling can be set by the user or does the dealer have to make the setting. My last 997 had it set and from what the books says the dealer has to make this adjustment. Any feedback is appreciated.

Do you have Sport Chrono? It says so in your sig...

If you do, then you can set it through the PCM settings. I can't remember the order on the 997.1 PCM, but it's in there. Just dig through the settings menus and you'll see one for "autolock". I just confirmed mine was "off" yesterday...

Under the "Individual Memory" settings. Key has to be in "on" position to access it.

I was always weary of using that function thinking that a malfunction could have me locked out for some odd reason.

It is speed activated, so unless you are running next to your car while it is going down the street on "auto pilot," you can't get locked out due to this function.

I think you have to set it for both keys.

It has been a while since I set mine, but I think there are two options. One is for lock upon start up, and the other is lock upon driving, or speed activated.

Since the OP asked about "setting the door locks to automatically lock after the car starts rolling" I figured that was the option in question. I don't think I would choose the "lock upon start up" option.

It works after the car starts rolling, Chris I couldn't imagine taking my car to an automatic car wash.....
I'm surprised the fat tires even fit on the rack! I wash it during the warm months and take it to a hand wash place during the winter. Don't tell me that beautiful C4S goes into the car wash: :

Yep - no problems. It's all microfiber, etc. There are no decent handwash places around here and my community has ONE hose hookup for car-washing, etc. No biggie... I get the car detailed 2-3 times a year and I am meticulous about maintenance. It has ze hard German paint, you know.

How would it get locked in the wash exactly?

I don't know about you, but I've seen plenty of cars have locks that if they are unlocked by the remote, they'll relock after 30 secs or so. I'm a big fan of better safe than sorry... FWIW, why do you think all those car washes have big disclaimers about car lockouts?
