Transmission Fluid ???
I went to a new p-car mechanic to get my transmission fluid changed on my 997s before my weekend racing, as it has been 5-6K since doing so.
He told me that he was going to put in a tranny oil that was for LSD (dont have one) because its better for tracking than regular tranny oil?
I believe it was Chevron Oil, he said it was the same weight.
Does this sound OK?
Also what transmission oil is recommended for our cars?
What is the best transmission oil?
Also is it bad to overfill the transmission oil? I know there is a spitter just in case, as I think mine was overfilled so I had some taken out at the track.

I've never replaced tranny fluid in any of my Porsches - and I've spent my fair share of miles on the track. Might be a better question asked in Racing / DE - let me know if you want me to move it there for you.

No, he is talking about the transmission fluid which is much thicker, something like 75/90 viscosity. I think the 5K to 6K miles since the last change made you think engine oil.

Yes. TRANSMISSION FLUID.
Ever since the change my gears have been "clunkier" but my mechanic told me this prior.
He stated the LSD fluid is better for high performance driving, than the stock fluid.
He recommends changing every 2-3 track weekends or every 6 track days.
It cant hurt.... can it?

I think the guy is quoting you time intervals for a LSD equipped car. On your car I don't think it is needed that often and I would stay with OEM fluid.
