What exactly is a "Launch Edition" 997 and does it have

Launch cars are for 'new' models and usually come in one color and set of options.
There are launch editions for the 997.1 C2, C2S, Cab, CabS, 4, 4S etc etc etc etc and the same goes for the 997.2.

I think they all came with PDK and a few were launched without Sport Chrono Plus. I know the C2S and C4S both have PDK/SCP.

but if you find a Club Coupe... that's a different story. I would love to have been on the list for one of those.

Sometimes you have to ask "what were they thinking?" PDK without the Sports Chrono option seriously limits the real potential of that tranny,--but this is what they did. They also left off stuff like NAV which I think was equally foolish in that the PCM upgrade was supposed to be one of the new big selling features of the 09.

Agree 110%. You figure Porsche would want to "show off" the PDK and fit them with SCP to sell their new pride and joy. Because without it, the car drives like a Lexus. In D, it shifts faster than I can count to 7. I don't have the new Nav in my launch car, but I've played with it and it's a big improvement over the previous generation. Someone in marketing must have had a little too much to drink when they made their decisions not to "advertise" the SCP and the Nav in the 997.2.

I know. I have a useless teetering on bankruptcy XM radio module for $750, seats that will cool me for $800, but would love to trade that $1550 towards NAV, or trade the XM radio for Sport Chrono. Now I have a ProClip with a Garmin NAV sitting next to my underutilized NEW PCM. I will say that the Bluetooth and Universal Audio Interface are great. The air conditioned seats will probably get used on hot sticky days. The XM radio at $750 & looking at the ProClip hold a portable NAV just kill me. Don't get me wrong, I love the car.

Bluetooth and Universal Audio Interface are not just great, they're awesome! Love the touchscreen and the new PCM interface is very intuitive.

Black/Black, 15.5k miles. What's it worth?
