I've always thought the 996 interior looks like ****e. Then again, I've never been a fan of the way the 996 looked. Aside the GT3/2 or poss. a Turbo. The moment the 997 came out it was instant 'chubby' time.

As ADias has said one doesn't drive a 911 for it's interior. That being said, I love the bigger than life sized Tach in my 993. It overshadowed everything else, hence it's importance. Todays interior is mostly about style -I don't know how many of todays buyers would by happy if our 997's, or the 991 had the interior of a 993 or 964. As my youngest daughter keeps reminding me, it was a different time.

"Last thing" sounds right.

By order of importance: I would say, the intrinsic characteristics of the car/ chassis > engine > exterior > fetaures/ equipment > interior.

However it is to be noted that one spends much more time inside than outside looking at it.

Why can't we just have it all in a P car?

i was not a fan of my 996 interior. i like my 997 interior, but do not necessarily love it. I did not buy either for the interior.

LOL you mean beyond the exotic performace levels combined in a everyday driver?

If we 'got it all' in a Porsche; C2's would be around the price of a 997TT base price.

dontchya think?

Personally I think the 996 was an embarassment to Porsche. Nice flow from 993 to 997. It's as if the 996 is an ugly stepchild, especially the front lights and interior.

I tell people all the time the 996 was the bastard child to the 911 for Porsche.

Default Hmmmmmmmm

The whole "hard core sports car" buyer/owner with no care for the interior isn't something I personally believe in....

Interior design matters....

If it did not then why are the cars of owners that do not care not gutted, stripped to baremetal to save weight thus increase performance?

I agree the 997's interior is leaps above a 996....

Yes, a 911 is for driving excitement. However, seeing as I'm inside the car when I'm driving it, the interior does matter to me. Besides, if it really didn't matter, as some professed, then why all the hate on the Vette's interior?

Good point....

dare I say, I liked the GTR (nissan) so much so that I almost picked one up but the inside was terrible IMO. The outside, well not sure I want to start that debate, but the inside was that bad and what pushed it over the edge for me to pass on ethe car....

I had a fun modded Honda s2000, just a great reliable high revving car, but the inside I did not like one bit. All digital read out..... to me just painful. Traditional gauge cluster and better interior and would have kept the car for fun....

Not the sole factor to make any decisions on but a top factor never the less for me when considering cars....

I agree that the inside matters. Otherwise I'd just go buy a Corvette.
