It's an optical illusion - it's really that your wallet is thinner.

According to the website they are all the same width until you hit the turbos, they pick up another inch and change there.

First a disclaimer to everyone else: don't go to the Porsche.com/usa site unless you want to see something truly hideous on the front page.

Bave, I don't know what the deal is on those published widths, but that's sure what it says. Just to confirm what I listed above, however, is this blurb about the C4 from the site:

Specific to the all-wheel drive variants is the 44 mm wider stance at the rear and the new taillight strip, which, as a striking design feature, lends even more impact to the rear end.

and from Rennlist, comparing 996 and 997s which you may be most familiar with:

Narrow Body

* 996 - width 69.70"
* 997 - width 71.18"

Wide Body

* 996 - width 72.00"
* 997 - width 72.91"

The Porsche web site is wrong. The widths for the 2008 cars were correct on the web site but when they updated for the 2009 they screwed them up.

NB 71.18" = C2/C2S, GT3
WB 72.91" = C4/C4s, T4/T4S, Turbo, GT3 RS, GT2

Funny how some people just have to have the 4 cars because they are 1.72 inches wider in the rear.

That wasn't why I did it - it's that cold, white stuff that falls from the sky.
