Plugs into the existing Gateway 500, and offers options for running video through various ports. Will get more details posted once we have beta testing completed.
Here's the initial PR:
Specifications
* Route video from iPod or DVD to any screen in the car
* See input from reversing camera (where fitted)
* Send different sources to different areas of your car (front and back)
* Connect games console to rear screens
* Browse iPod video content on screen
Which cars?
AVR can only be used as an accessory to Gateway 500, and can currently be fitted to BMW with Pro Sat Nav and Porsche with PCM 2.0 and PCM 2.1 head units.
Further developments are underway to extend compatibility into Mercedes and Audi in the near future.
Which iPods?
AVR is compatible with all video capable iPods.
We will have this on our Order page in a week or two for preorders.
I'm definitely going to be interested in this based upon price point. I'm curious on install complexity and video quality as well.
Does it get power from the Gateway 500 or does it need it's own power?
Does anything need to be connected to the back of the PCM itself?
I thought video content was not allowed on the front panel.
"allowed" is such a strong word...
Legally it should cut out front video when you are moving (often with a hand-brake sensor). But that would depend on how it was installed.
Will this gadget show album covers when listening to music?
does dension make any product that just allows an aftermarket amp to be added to the MOST bus. For example, a nice little 8" sub somewhere in the trunk!
Why oh why don't they just have some line-level outputs??
