There's a thread on this over on 6Speed too. Someone who knew one of the victims has posted in the thread. The two guys were Brits, and the guy who posted knew one of the guys and his family. He'd just become a dad a few weeks ago. What a stupid, stupid waste.

It would not surprise me if a lawyer is working out a Ted Kennedy sinking car deal.

It's prob beyond that now. Between the criminal charges and the civil litigation nobody involved in this will ever be the same. The more of these I read about the easier it is to cruise away from stoplights at 35 mph.

+1

Especially in South Fla. Too many people not from the area. Can be real dangerous.

I will admit that I participated in my fair share of street racing in Lauderdale. BUT, we always took it to areas where we knew that other people could not get hurt. We had a few areas near the sawgrass expressway that were perfect. Flat straight roads for 1 mile. No intersections. No buildings. If you flew off the road, then you ended up in the grass. While this was very dangerous and stupid (much younger days) at least we were partially smart.

I think that this is a problem everywhere, too many people with too little experience with high performance cars driving like race car drivers. Take it to the track and learn how to drive, and a lot less chances of people getting hurt.

Oh I know...this is one of the foremost reasons I hold our criminal justice system in contempt. Dude has money, after all he could afford that car....somewhere a high priced lawyer is working to keep the driver free.
