reseting maintenance light

reseting maintenance light
Does anyone know how to reset the 'maintenance required now' light. I just did my oil change (not at the dealer) and need to reset that. The dealer wants $62 for doing that...go figure.
Thanks in advance.

If you plan on doing this a lot you might consider getting the Durametric Tool. http://www.durametric.com/
If you let us know your location, someone with a tool might be able to reset your light for you.

I would offer up my durametric for use except the consumer version only lets you program up the three vehicles. I already have my car plus my wife's Cayenne so I only have room left for my next vehicle. The professional version lets you program unlimited Porsches but it costs 2 or 3 times as much.
Even if you pay the dealer to reset it, you still saved about $150 bucks on an oil change.

Interestingly, I change my own oil and have had the authorized Porsche dealer reset that thing,--and it hasn't come on ever again. It's nice not to have to reset it every time. I wonder if there is some sort of global "master kill switch" to entirely shut it off for good?

The dealer should re-set it for No Charge, at least that is what we do here in Denver. It takes 30sec. to do with the PIWIS tester. I think there probably saying (f-him, if he is not going to have the car serviced here, then we will make him pay one way or the other) it is B.S. To the other post that say there service lights have not come back on, just give it time, they will. Based on time and mileage. What year is your car and how many miles? They do come on premature sometimes, you may win that argument with your local dealer.
