Default Warranty help please - battery dead

I have an 05 C2 Cab with the 4 year warranty expiring in a few months. I have 34K miles and it is a daily driver throughout the year. Never stored.

My battery died last weekend after the deep cold snap. It won't take a charge. Needs a new battery. Dealer told me it is a wear item and I need to buy a new one.

I have been under the impression from reading previous threads on this forum that the warranty would cover battery replacement unless the car was rarely driven or stored without a battery charger.

Does anyone have access to any documentation of this policy? Is it written in the warranty booklet? I'm traveling this week and unable to get to my warranty documents for a few days. Any help would be appreciated.

Nope, not under warranty, my 06 S battery just crapped out last month. Get an interstate instead of the ultra expensive Porsche battery!!

Batteries are never covered under warranty - it's a wear item that doesn't last forever, like tires, brake pads, wipers, etc. If it "broke" (ie: 2 weeks into ownership and it died because it was faulty), then they'd surely cover it. But 4 years into ownership - I'd say you did well.

Had battery of my C2S replaced by dealer under warranty 16 months into ownership.

Dealer has some discretion but after almost four years just bite the bullet and buy the Interstate battery as suggested earlier...shouldn't set you back more than $150 installed.

In the interest of preventing the dissemination of false information, your battery was replaced by the dealer at his discretion, and in the interest of keeping you a happy customer.

It was not replaced under warranty, per the information by RonCT.

I seriously doubt Roger Penske, who owns the dealership, ate the cost of the battery...I stand by my earlier statement--replaced under warranty.

Batteries typically have 4-5 year lifespans as a daily driver. Been there, done that. I would not expect any warranty coverage on them. If it was defective within the 1st year, sure.. thats a manufacturing defect. If it dies after 3+ years, it is just at the end of its life.

I had the battery replaced in our '06 under warranty. The dealer said as long as the car was driven more than 500 miles a month, then it was covered under warranty. We bought the car from a Porsche dealer, but not the one that replaced the battery. If they replaced it at their discretion, I am glad I got them on a good day. I have not looked at the warranty paperwork to see if it should have been covered.

Just go and spend $50 at Sam's Club or similar store and get a battery that has a 4+ year warranty.
