Price check for a noob
I'm pretty new to the world of Porsches. I almost bought a cayman a couple of years ago. But now that I see used cayman and 997 prices doing down so much, I decided to take another look.
The past weekend I drove a cayman, cayman S, 997, and 997S, and decided that I would really like a 997S if I could get the price that I want. Part of the attraction to the 997 over the cayman was because it's roomier, (i'm 6'4"), and I think they're the best looking 911's in a long time. (toss up between the 997 and 993) And of course the performance of the S over the non-S.
The 997S I drove was an '05 with 26k miles. It was the exact color combo that I want, meteor gray with stone int. It was a totally base car, with only full leather seats or something like that. New sticker was $85k. They are asking $57.8k, non-cpo-ed.
Without even asking, they said they could go down some. I realized they need to make a fair profit, and I'm not really sure how much they got the car for, but do you think I could get this for $50k cpo-ed? Or is that totally unreasonable to even ask? With the budget I have worked out, I pretty much need the selling price of the car to be right around 50. Preferably high 40's. Is a low mileage (<40k) cpo-ed 997S doable? or am I delusional?

I see a few cpo-ed 997's with <40k miles in the mid 40's. How much more should an S cost everything else being the same? 5k?
Thanks for any input.
mike.
As far as price is concerned, I would offer them $52K for that car proovided that it included Porsche's CPO warranty.
Data point we have an 07 S gray with black 15k miles for 61k

However, the 997 prices will still continue to drop if the enonomy continues trending south.
