9 Elf S, sorry to hear this. I am in the same predicament, except it was my fault. This is the first time in three years of ownership that the bars were less than full. I was under the impression that each bar was about .5 lt. I had two of the four bars left, so I added one bottle (.5lt??). Now all the bars are full, past the upper max guide. It’s been about a week and no issues so far. I amaze myself at how I can take a seemingly simple task and mess it up so much.

The west marine idea still kicks butt. I have one
where you shove a tube down the oil fill line
and you put the other tube in an empty container.
You then conect an electric drill to the pump and turn the drill
on. Very easy and quick.

How were you able to get the tube deep enough into the oil pan? I tried for about 30 minutes, but could not get the end of the tube submerged in oil to create a vacum. The oil fill line (on an 07 997) curves downward, which I was able to get the tube to traverse, but at some point it looks like it straightens and that's when I couldn't get it to go any further. I was able to feed about 2-2.5 feet of tube down the oil fill line. This would be so much easier to do with a real dipstick...

The manual suction oil pumps' tubing depends on the straight shot to the sump that a dipstick provides. There's no reason except randomness of design, that you could snake a tube down into the sump from the oil filler cap hole.

I only did this on a Marine engine. Maybe there is no way
down from the oil fill line. I know that adding oil to a V8
motor is just pouring oil over the rocker arms
and it finds its own way down to the oil pan. I suppose
you need to pull the motor apart to see where the oil
goes down. Sure makes you wonder.
