Do any of you guys know if the Porsche charger that plugs into the cig lighter can also be used on an Audi Q7. Thanks...GR

It should work just fine. The factory Porsche charger is really a re-badged CTEK 3300 charger with Cig lighter option that Porsche charges a premium for.

Check out CTEK's web site and you will recognize the 3300 model since it's the exact same one as the Porsche charger. I purchased 2 CTEK3300 models on Ebay for just $60 each.

Oh BTW Mercedes Benz uses a rebadged CTEK800 model. MB charges like $165 for it. You can find those for way less on ebay.

I use the same one in my Vette and 540i. Works fine.

It didn't work on my mom's '99 SL500 though. I had to get a charger with the clips for the battery terminals.

Out of curiosity, how long can our Porsches be left in the garage before the battery dies?

Default I use to laugh at people buying these trickle chargers....why do you need them?

Well, with my older cars I could leave them for over a month and no problem.
In fact my 68 280sl sat for 2 months..no problem. Well, recently I had the 997 sitting for two weeks and you could here the starter struggling. Guess what...I now have a trickle charger.

I read up on the product information and it states the cig lighter must be able to work with keys out and motor off. Maybe that is the issue...GR

I've never had to find that one out. I leave mine on the charger all year when the car is not in use.

Yep, sometimes I go 3+ months without driving my 83' SC. Damn thing starts up without a problem, and the clock keeps perfect time. I don't leave my 997 without a battery tender for more than a week.

If you buy the CTEC 3300, do you add a cigarette plug from AutoZone or does it come with one from CTEC or what?

I bought mine off Ebay and an option was to get the cigarette plug. The Porsche one comes with the adaptor built in and they can also be found all over Ebay...GR

The Cig lighter is an option on all CTEK chargers. You can view it and find the part # if you click on the link below. You can probably pick one up on e-bay for less than $20.
