I could not agree with this more.

I only let my good friends drive the car, otherwise I tell them sorry but no.

Sometimes they call me names afterwards, but its better than 2K on a new clutch or any damage to my car and then our friendship

My brother, sis, and brother-in-law have all driven mine, as they're car enthusiasts just like me. My wife will never drive it even though she's free to do so. With my friends, luckily I don't have this issue since none of them can row a manual.

I've had several people drive my car. It's worth it to see how excited they are to be having a go at one.

I think one of the best tests is to hand the person the key and see if they can start the car. If they don't know where the key goes, they don't drive.

It's just a car, people. If I ever become the kind of guy that's so **** about an object that I won't let a responsible friend use it, just shoot me, 'cause I'll already be dead inside.
Amen!!!!

Cheers to you my friend...................................

I haven't let anyone drive mine except my wife. I wouldn't be opposed to letting a friend drive it (with me in it) but I would preface the drive with this disclaimer, "you're more than welcome to drive it but if somethings happens (curb a wheel, crash, etc) it's on you.. right? ok, sign here..." j/k about the "sign here part"

I let people I know drive my car, but only when I am in it. I never let someone take it for any period of time (unless I am getting service on it). If someone were to ask me for a long term solo drive, I would simply tell them to go get one for themselves.

How about providing some links illustrating where you've done so?

I've let many people drive my car. I love to see someone as excited about it as I was/am. My wife doesn't like to drive it (it scares her), although she's allowed. My two best friends have driven it, leading to one of them purchasing a C4 cab, and I let my brother take it for an entire weekend (my nephew got to sit in the back and was sooooo excited). I love that my car brings joy to not just me, but to many people I love, or even just like.

Wifey can drive it any time she wants. I've had a PCA instructor (and friend) drive it in anger. I have let one of my best pals (who is an outstanding driver that has an endless pot 'o gold bank account ) have his way with it as well.
