MFC is right. Even in good times the equity membership is not the deal the Clubs make it out to be. And most have a clause that states any profit in the sales of membership gets split with the Club.

They don't have to be mutually exclusive. You can play golf at a lot of different places for a reasonable price. The Porsche is the expensive part but then again there is no substitute for that.
