Default 2006 C2 Cab vs. 08 M3 Convertible

I just wanted to read some opinions. My go-fast car is an 07 turbo. My 02 BMW 330Cic (supercharged) is ready to be retired as my DD. I drove the M3 and really liked it. I have never driven a base Carrera but I used to have a C2S and loved it. I found a 06 C2 cab with tip (has to be tip to appease the wife) with 3100 miles for the same price as an 08 M3 (2000 miles) convertible with double-clutch tranny. Opinions?

Given you already have a 997TT, I'd recommend the '08 M3 Convertible over the '06 C2 Cab. The TT should satisfy your performance needs, so this becomes more of a practicality question. The M3 is newer, has longer warranty, more useable backseats and trunk, and is likely a more comfortable cruiser with all the latest gadgets. In your case, I think it's a better family choice (and complement to the TT) than the C2 Cab.

On the BMW - I'd note when the top is down, there is next to zero space remaining, due to the packaging of steel roof.

I have an '06 M3 cab and like having trunk space so I can keep things "hidden" when the top is down (i.e. if I want to leave the car parked and unattended).

If leaving the car unattended, it might be best on the new M3 to raise the top and hide the valuables in the trunk. And then take them out of the trunk again to put the top back down. A minor inconvenience hopefully.

Take a look at the 1 series conv. You can get it with the same engine as the 335. Since it has a soft top, more room in the trunk. It is very close to the speed of the E 46 M3. Size is about equal to my E 46 conv....GR

Personally, I hate the lines on the 1 series - it appears to sag in the middle and the proportions don't look right. But I agree that the 335 twin turbo would make that car go nicely.

Given that you already have a 997, i'd go with the M3. It's a very pretty car.

My neighbor has a new M3 Cab. Nice car. Sounds great and in an un-pc way - more appropriate for the wifey.

The new M3 is way too heavy! The C2 Cab would be more fun to drive.

Ture. But the OP has a tt already. You will have a more usable back seats on the M3 and the ride will be much more comfortable for dd.

I love mine. I do think the S version is worth the diff especially if you are buying used.

the 1 series is another BMW mistake in my humble opinion ugly not as bad as the 318TI (or whatever that humpbacked car was called), but ugly nonetheless

1 series = fugly IMO

I would be o.k. with the fugliness if it were 500 pounds lighter than the 3 series but if the car is only 200lbs lighter and not much cheaper - why bother?
