Default 997 "S" exhaust tips

Noticed my exhaust tips are discolored and look a bit small for the openings on either side of the bumper. Started researching online, and fun this part #:

997.111.981.02

are these the ones that all S's came with or are they the shiny bigger tips that Porsche rapes us on as an upgrade ?

Is there a better option than these ones in terms of being better looking, /price / finish/quality ?

Would love to see what other Rennlisters have on their cars - please post pix.
Cheers

I'm a klutz with this stuff. If this photo posts ok I can add some more. The stock S tips and the polished stainless tips are the same size. I swapped mine out after I bought the car. I thought they looked better, but after a while thought the cost wasn't really worth the "look".

here's some more photos swapping the S tips. If you do this it can be a little fiddly to get them lined up. There is a seal ring that can get cocked causing the tip to be crooked. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I didn't think they looked that much different to justify several hundred dollars.

Hey Crazy, the photos are looking straight into the pipes. If you look down from a normal height the polished tips are a little more noticeable. But still pretty similar. I looked at aftermarket- AWE I think? As I recall they weren't cheap. I thought they had too much of an aftermarket look and wanted OEM. I like the PSE tips which have one outlet slightly larger than the other. But I don't think you can just bolt on- not sure about that. Think you need the PSE system.

Haven't looked at these photos in a while. Man I miss that car.

Hmmm...I usually going tp fast for anyone to notice the exhaust pipes...they are usually staring at the nut behind the wheel......:-)

Get a Dremel tool and some metal polishes and shine them up your self. Or send them out for around $60 and have them ceramic coated black. Lot cheaper than the polsihed Porsche tips that you will have to re-polish anyway.

Another tip on tips is to STAY AWAY for Vertex/Schnell in Miami for tips. They claim there Fabspeed look a like tips fit a 997S but they do not. I know I tried them and had to send them back twice and threaten them to get my money back. They have some kid running that department and he has zero knowledge or customer service skills. Too bad though because the tips looked nice and were priced right.

mdrums - where would you look to have them ceramic coated black?

Beautiful color choice (and I'm not just saying that becaue it's the same as mine)

I realize that you said they were the same size as stock, but is that in every respect (i.e length and diameter) as the stock ones ?..for some reason the last pic you pictured, they seem bigger than mine. Is the polishing the ONLY difference ?

it's a visual thing. If there is any dimensional difference I couldn't tell it. I sold the car with the polished tips and the stock ones are in storage, or I'd check em.
