This is something I've noticed on a few cars and find to be slightly noticeable on mine. Check out these pics lifted from recent posts. In the first two shots, taken from the same approximate angle, there is a definite difference in how the leading edge of the hood aligns with the front bumper.
In the turbo the hood seems to sit slightly low relative to the bumper.
The second shot of the turbo shows how the varying slopes of the bumper and the hood actually reflect light differently, making the bumper look a shade (or whatever the appropriate terminology is) darker than the hood.
Is there an adjustment for this?

The key to your statement is that they were taken from approximately the same angle. I would venture to say that if you shot them both from the same distance away, and with the lens at the same position above the ground you would get nearly the same results,--that angle does greatly affect how you perceive that front lip of the trunk opening.
They are adjustable as well, however. There are small bump-stops inside on the front corners that can be crewed in deeper.

As Dan said, the angle of the shot can make a lot of differenct. If the leading edge of your trunk lid is above the rear edge of the bumber cover, I would adjust the bump stops on each front corner so the lid sits lower. It is a simple 2-minute adjustment.

Be careful adjusting hood to align with bumper: might result in water leaking into trunk electronics/wiring and then a system fault. Better, but far more difficult (?), would be to adjust bumper to align with hood.
My *guess* is colors sometimes do not match exactly because painted bumper comes as a part supplied from a different paint shop with slight batch variations.

It's my recollection that some unfortunate owners of early 997s got serious, genuinely PITA, repeated system faults after they merely washed their cars. Apparently the water leakage into the electronics/wiring was the result of bad weather strip contact.
