Where to have tires installed
Where do you guys have your tires installed? My local dealer doesn't do tires so that leaves Discount Tire or the Tire Rack preferred installer Big O. Any opinions?

I only install tires in shops who do high-line cars and do have a Hunter mounting/balancing machine.

The Tirerack website has a page that let us search for the installers near our zipcode, and then it lists each installer's customer rating and installation charges. Very useful, give it a try.

I did look at the tire rack site. Like I said in my original email the only installer in my area is a Big O tire. They had good reviews but I'm not sure how they'd be with a porsche.

I buy my tires from tirerack, and have them drop-shipped to an NTB near my house where I have them installed. I've had zero problems.

I just moved from Salt Lake last spring. I had good results with tire mounting at Hillside Tire on 7200 South, just east of 2000 East. They are Porsche people, and I believe the store manager even races Porsches. They know and understand. Also had good results with wheel alignment with them. Good Luck.

I look for a good race shop first. Roger Krause Racing in Castro Valley is who I used when I lived in the SF bay area. Awesome job. Hand tools. Race taped weights. They'll move the tire on the rim as many times as necessary to get the smoothest rotation on the Hunter machine pre and post weights. Bonus of using a race shop is almost always two or three SICK rides in the other stalls.
