I learned my lesson when someone used their cell phone to call Big Brother about that "dangerous driver in a red sports car". He didn't give me a ticket but he did tell me that he gets alot of people now because of cell phone calls.

I almost sold the car because of this. Thought I'd give the track a try first. Best thing I ever did. Relieves the frustration of havin such a car and not being able to use it for what it was designed for. Since I've begun tracking this car, I also enjoy it on the street at slow speeds now.

We voted for "100,000 new police officers on the street" a few years back...now we're gettin' to pay for 'em!!

Drive safe

I took great pleasure in voting down a bond for added Police spending in my community.

ha great pic As always, all good points on here I am starting to do more and more DE events, so that will relieve some stress. Also, beginning last night, I am going to start killing my habit of habitually being a left hand lane driver...why make myself more visible. All of that said, however, I blame Porsche on making such a great car...it really is hard to drive around town at 45. Oh well...that said, I have no choice, and installing the exhaust hack has definitely helped, what I started to do this morning was chill out around 35, and when I could, really goose the engine for some 100 foot excitement...Off to Moroso this weekend.

If you drive around town at 45MPH, consider yourself lucky. Around here it is 30/35MPH.

What I find important is never to lug the engine. Use a lot of 2nd and 3rd around town.

Never lug the engine for the "fun factor?," or for the protection of the engine?

Talked to a friend of a friend today who just retired after 30 years as a California Highway patrolman. He said that radar a blocker is not only illeagal in California but is actually a felony. Never heard this one before. He acknowledged that it is difficult to prove that one is using a blocker as one can elect to turn off this capability at anytime with certain models (eg. the Escort 9500ci built in detector/blocker that I was contemplating).

He also said that most CHP officers use LIDAR and a detector alone is virtually defenseless to this form of radar since it is only active at the time they shoot you and then it is too late (whereas a more traditional radar gun emits a signal all of the time it is turned on and is thus easier to detect).

Any thoughts regarding the felony issue and if one could reasonably be caught? Thoughts on the LIDAR comment? I was planning on getting a stealth detector and/or blocker but may not be worth it. I have an old escort 8500 but even hanging something from the windshield is technically illeagal here in California. Help......

Radar jammers are illegal in every state. We have been discussing laser jammers which are illegal in some states. I can't speak to what the CHP does other than to say my good old V1 always gets me through California ticket free. I

It's a good idea to get on a countermeasures forum and find out what radar/laser guns are used in your state and which equipment is the most effective against them.

A radar jammer is a radio transmitter and is governed by the FCC. They are illegal in all states as you do not possess the license to transmit radio waves on that frequency.

Laser jammers are light emitting and are not illegal in most states, but more and more are starting to ban them. Check to find if your state has restrictions on laser jammers.

Yes, it's best to find out which radar and laser guns the state or locals use to best match the protection needed.
