Default for those new owners looking at snow tires

I have now had the Micheline Alpine snow tires for 1 year, here are mu observations

1) the tires do their job, work well in cold and snow, as expected

2) minimal noise, in fact quieter than the PS2

3) comfortable ride better than the PS2, but they are 18 in

4) on dry road, at low speed, they handle well, at high legal speed, also handle well, but at high speeds (100+, which of course I only do at the track...wink wink) they are only so-so, at these speeds I felt the car was not as tight or stable as with the PS2

one more thought, I have driven the PS2 on dry road at temps less than 30 and
my advise: do not do it! the rubber is rock hard and the car is hard to handle

Thanks for your first hand observations.

Presently, the factory recommends the following for the Carrera (997)

Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 (N1) in 18 inch
Pirelli Winter 230 Sottozero (N1) in 18 inch
Nokian WR (N0) in 18
Pirelli Winter 240 Sottozero (N1) in 19
Nokian WR (N0) in 19

My experience on Michelin PA2 18 inch with about 6k miles (last year) and a few hundred this year is the same. Like all new tires they were a bit squirrelly at first but quickly settled down and I have complete confidence in them on winter roads. I would echo the OP comments about summer tires below 40F - my summers were Pirelli Rosso 19 inch which are now nearly worn and definitely unsafe in wet or cold conditions.
