Default Battery replacement

I think my battery is on the way out - will get a check on it tomorrow. Any recommendations on what to get as a replacement?

Interstate MTP-91...3 plus year warranty from Interstate, maintenance free (unlike OEM)

Can you cite a few issues with your car,--model year? Mileage accumulated on it? It seems premature to me for any 997 to need a battery this early,--unless you rarely drive it. The Chicago location may indicate that the car sits from late November to early May...

Car has 17K miles and is an 06. It gets driven 2-3 x/week. The starter motor seems slow to catch - feels like it's churning.

I had the exact same symptom with my 06 C2S (also 17k miles).
Mentioned it to my service adviser who informed me there's a TSB on starter cables for certain 997's. Mine was apparently "shorting." It was replaced under warranty.
I haven't had the car back very long, but the problem has not recurred, yet.

I just had the same thing happen to me. 06 C2S that sits in my garage (NY Area). Haven't used since Sept and the battery is dead. I charged overnight and the car turned over (barely). I left the charger in the front trunk and now I can't even open the hood. Completely dead.. Is there a bypass lever to open the hood?

Also, when it started, I got a PSM light failure. Prob due to battery issue. I spoke to the dealer and he mentioned to just come in, change the battery and they will turn off the light.

Anyone here have any similar issues? Thought I might buy the Interstate MTP-91 battery and replace myself. (will the light correct or do I have even worse issues??)

Thanks guys and Happy Holidays!

Chef,
My 06 is also a little slower this year to turn over in the cold weather as well. As I felt last year, it will start every time with just a little hesitation and then will resume normal cranking after the big thaw.
That being said, the car will probably die the next time it's cold out.

I replaced my battery with a Die Hard Group 47, it's a little smaller and has 590 CCA instead of 700 stock, it's been great and no problems. It fits in the factory tray with the oem bracket and I saved 20 LBS! It also has a 3 year warranty and it was $125. The stock battery is to big and heavy.

My dealer checked the battery and it needed replacing. Apparently raising and lowering the top 2 x day + shortish journeys didn't really help it to stay fit.

My 06 battery just went, dealer replaced with an Interstate for $145, said the Porsche replacement was $500+. In all fairness, I discharged the battery fooling with my Dension Bluetooth unit twice, but, I was still disappointed with OEM battery life.
Have about 23K miles.

I'm at 52 months and 42K miles on my original 05 CS battery. I had it checked a few months ago since it sometimes seems a little weak on starting, but dealer said it was fine.

mission accomplished.. just picked up an MTP-91. followed Dave's hood pop instructions (thanks again Dave!) and dropped it right in.. fit like a glove.. went a local garage (2mins away) and they had one for me. (man the oem battery was heavy!) $130 bucks and we are up and running...

still have the psam falure light though! will take it to a dealer this week..

one thing to mention to others, the vent on the battery is oval and doesn't quite fit the elbow vent on the p-car so you need to put in a rubber conduit hose. (make sure to ask your garage if they can cut a 3-4" rubber hose for this to work)...

you people are awesome! thanks again!!
