Default Sport Chrono

I've searched and read my manual but does anyone know if the sport chrono is supposed to light up when the dash lights are on? I've been asked this question many times, to which I've said no. The next question is always, why not? I have answers about safety etc., but I've not read anywhere if it should or shouldn't. Anyone know?
TIA

The Sport Chrono only lights up when it is in use (actively timing a lap) or until it is cleared after having timed a lap.

yes, if it's in use, i'll light up and stay illuminated. as others suggested, you can test your reflexes to get it to stop on "911" or "997" or the like. should take a few minutes and pass the time at a light or two.

ACTUALLY:

Someone posted that it can, indeed light up when the lights are on w/o having to make the chrono turn on.

I'm assuming my tech can do this???

Had a discharged battery now after charging the sport chrono digits are always lit and the clock lights up with the lights on. It never did before and I don't know how to shut it off. Resetting it doesn't do it!!
Anyone know how?

It's a real pain to get it to stop at a particular time.

Can anyone spot what wrong with the avatar picture?

Hmmm, 9.97? where's the .97 indicated? Looks like the counter didn't move, still on 12

The digital display says 9.97 while the second hand is at 9.2 sec.
