Yikes!!

But man for mid $50's- that car would be a nice toy. Not my cup of tea- but still a fun toy for that money.

I can see why there's peeps here buying them for dailys....or a 2nd toy. It's really inexpensive fun if you buy it right.
$10 per mile JUST ON THE DEPRECIATION!

Thumbs down 2nd day evaluation......

Okay.

I can't lie.

I hate it. 2nd day/night w/ it and I've realized it's put together more shody then I originally thought.

-Lot's of tire noise; heck- lot's of wind noise.
- hate hate hate hate hate the interior.
- dislike the clutch now; it's either on or off- doesn't like being slipped a little
- WTF is w/ the engine taking FOREVER to rev down?? Is it the flywheel????

I'm sorry- but if you paid for this car NEW as a daily........you're a masochist....

I'd take a C63 as a daily even if the Z06 was $15k less then the C63.

Can you say-FIRE SALE anyone?

Yeah, I paid MSRP on an '06 to learn what you've learned. And interestingly, day two was it for me as well.

I started describing it as a very fast tractor.

I'd take a base Carrera or a 335i any day.

Default OOHHHH MY F'ING GAWD!!!

same client who traded in his Z06 came back today w/ his wife.

His wife wants out of her 2008 Corvette C6 Convertible. The car had an original list price of $68,120-

I can't even get $35,000 for the damn thing!!!!

Needless to say I don't have $20k cash back like there is on 2008 S550v4's right now. He is completely buried in neg. equity!!!

The reality is- the Vette isn't worth only $35k- it's probably worth around $45k- but what we're seeing is that the wholesalers and Chevy dealership would rather completely low-ball us before taking that car in as a used car. They simply do not want the car at all.

But we can't put $45 if the market won't bare it either.

Soooooo frustrating!! I want to sell him a Porsche; just can't do it. (I'm not mentioning the largest piece of the equation which his Neg. equity on the car itself- but lets just say it's more then you can imagine. -He has an addiction to cars w/o paying cash.)

****.

See. The vette is a one night stand; where a Porsche is that ONE girl whom you really want!

I didn't think that a (non Z06) C6 could get that expensive, so I just tried configuring an 08 C6 Conv on the Corvette website and if you select EVERY option the list is over $70k . I hope they weren't stupid enough to pay MSRP for a Corvette.

You guys are relentless. The Corvette is a great car for the money, most enthusiasts cannot even consider the kind of dough it takes to buy a 997. I also think nearly every car is depreciating in this terrible market. Even Porsche sales were down 50% last month and similar numbers in Sept. I assume you can and will get a smokin deal on an 08 and in a few months an 09. My 06 C4S is probably worth wholesale in the high 50's and had an msrp of $104K! Frankly, I wish their sales would pick up, I hate to see GM file for chapter 11. It's a damn shame to see what's happening to the Detroit car companies right now. I know you can say they deserve it for making crappy products but many, many people will suffer if they go down. I have 3 cars in my garage, 2 are German and one is Japanese. I love my P car but also owned many Corvettes, the last one in 1999 (c5). It's bang for the buck and American. If I had the room and if the economy was stronger I would buy a C6 Convertible just for another toy. Anyway, sorry for my rant. Hey, the guys in the Corvette forum call Porsches VW's...LOL

If I could afford to own 2 expensive sports cars, one of them would be a Z06. Cheezy interior or not, 505 hp in a 3200 lb car has got to be a blast.

A black z06 parks next to me at work, and although I wouldn't trade him, I'd be lying if I said I didn't love how pissed off it looks. Living with it is a different matter obviously.

My last car was an 05 corvette and while I love my 06 911... I sometimes miss how fast the world comes at you when you 'get on' those 400+ horses. You almost need a co-pilot.

I have owned a few vattes in my time, and spent a decent amount of seat time in a Z06, I think it is a fun car to drive, less refined than a Porsche or a Ferrari, more like the older lambos, with better handling. The only thing that really surprised me was how quickly the car lets loose, and with very little warning. It was alot harder to bring back it line than I would have thought.

Stoppie, your posts are hilarious! The Vette was my first true sports car - a 1992 model - I bought from a collector in 1999. Then I drove my Boxster and could not believe the difference in handling, ride comfort, and overall fit and feel....
