You can't do that yourself any longer on the 997s. (You could with the 996s). The dealership has to be involved on the 997s.

Edgy's comment is confirmed by my experience. Dealer must activate them via computer and they're manually retracted. So you could (if you want) ask the dealer to activate them before you go to the track, then push them back in yourself afterwards.

Can they be deployed with the top closed?

I heard some nonsense about a guy coming home after being away and finding his top damaged from the bars deploying with the top up. The story goes that the guys kid took it out and got all four wheels off the ground or something like that and the car sensed a rollover condition and the bars fired.

You need to either move the steering wheel closer to you or move your seat forward for proper positioning. You wrists should rest on topmof the steering wheelmwith your shoulders pressed back in the seat

Mike, late to the party, but does Suncoast allow a 997 cab driver to participate in DE/track days? I would like to at least participate in something, but I've heard different rules apply in different locales. New to P-car world but want to push it a little harder than I can on the streets! Thanks.

Sorry for replying to an old thread. Can anyone confirm if the roll bars can be deployed with the top up without damage? The track I’m going to wants me to drive with them up.

Anyone by chance happen to know what setting in PIWIS it is to release them for a 997? I found Fahrzeugocoierung: CODIERUNG Byte 2 Uberrollbugel, which is coding for "roll bar" but its a yes or no choice (mind you this is in development mode/simulation, need to hook up to the actual car)
