Default 997 Cab roll-bar height - passes the "broomstick test"

I finally got to my local dealer for the measurement. With the roll bars deployed and top down, there is ample room between the top of my helmet and the proverbial broomstick (in this case, a level). I had the seat on its lowest position (I'm 6-feet tall). Pics here show the space, and the actual bar height (22 cm or 10 inches). This is proof that the car can be tracked in accordance with any rule that says factory protection must pass the clearance test.

Cool pics. Thanks for sharing. Just remember that, should you actually need those bars, there's a good chance you will move 2+ inches in the stock belts.. still better "duck"

What are those objects on your windscreen? I don't have them on mine.

They are the covers for the pop-up roll bars.

I just passed tech. yesterday at Road America with a mkII 997 cab with the same test. Drove the PDK on the track, very nice!

Caughtacab911-

Awesome job getting this done. At 6'5", I have always been curious but too lazy to research this one. I will now measure to the 22" mark and figure out if I have an issue.

Thanks alot - again, learn something new everyday.

CAUTION!! Measure to the 22 CENTIMETER mark,--(10 inches).

I suspect the original poster is in Canada.

8.66 inches, to be completely precise.

I'm in Mass. actually (North Andover). The dealer in Nashua NH where I had this done could only find a metric tape measure for the shots.

How's does one deploy these for track use? Must we go to the dealer?

Default Track use

Well, Metro NY PCA requires roll bars for all 996's and 997's. I don't think the pop ups will qualify.
