Yet another reason to be happy/content with the original 997.

My XM antenna is mounted inside the vehicle on the dash at the base of the passenger side A pillar...reception is never an issue.

Main advantage to having the pimple on the outside sheet metal (and I'm not an engineer) is so it has 360' coverage. That's why they call it the 360' antenna.

I don't mind it so much.

I don't think it is that bad, well worth it to get the XM.

I mounted my Nav-TV Sirius antenna under the front cowl (next to the navigation) using nothing more than double sided tape ...lasted a good couple of months now through many 100F days here in the Texas summer ...will see if the cold causes it to pop-off

Reception couldn't be better, even works while parked in the garage

Nah, too ghetto and aftermarket-addon for me. If the wiring was not visible, it might be ok.

I've thought about that. Did you mount it upside down or right side up?

right side up, 1/2" square of the double sided tape on top of antenna, then stuck to the underside of the cowl

It beats soliciting dozens of different opinions on color choices, not to mention the 3 pages devoted to the endless (and often lame) witticisms on the "Ring 911" post on 6speedonline.

Agreed. But, the truly hilarious part on the 6speed thread was the bunny with a pancake on its head. Sad to say, I found that really damn funny.

Re the satellite pimple. It really would be preferable if they could do something on the inside of the car like these guys have done. I'd personally rather have no pimple than perfect reception. The 911 is such a great looking car, that little things like this do have an impact.

I have an 06 with xm and the antenna mounted on the cowl as pictured.

I have been thinking about an 09 but don't like the way they mount the Antenna from the factory.

My thoughts order or buy the car w/o XM then add factory later and put the antenna where you want it. In my case on the cowl below the windshield.

I believe it's only for satellite radio, which if you don't order it (I wouldn't) you don't get the wart on the outside. Hideous looking actually.
