Default Navigation Retrofit

I just bought a used PCM 2.1 and Navigation for my car. The PCM install within 5 mins and everything is working correctly. However, I'm having trouble with the navigation unit. I believe the 997 S and GT3 (mine) uses the vertical mount navigation and my part numbers below should be for this. I cannot find a space to fit the unit! Am I suppose to remove the plastic cover in the center of the trunk to place the DVD drive?

Navigation drive 997.642.159.01
Bracke 997.642.231.00

Some help would be great! Thanks!

Must be near the square hole in the carpet in your photo. If you can't find the bulkhead perhaps this install is over your head?

under top over white hole!
Use the search! Look under GT3 forum, if that's what you have,
List your car in your signature so we know what you have!!

my '07 997S (with factory nav) looks different than your photos:

The nav is in the middle where your car has that weird plastic cover. The Bose amp is down on the bulkhead. Looks like the GT3 is different than the base 997.

The plastic bump is vestigial. GT3s use parts of the stronger C4/Turbo bodyshell.

He can't list his car in his signature as a 'User'. He must be a 'Rennlist Member' with an active membership to have access to the signature block.

Thanks everyone! I do have a GT3, but thought this would be a general 997 question, but I was wrong. Sorry!

It looks like I'm missing a few hardware parts along with a new trunk mat for mounting the bracket. Anyone have the part numbers for the mounts and covers below (sorry rmag for borrowing your pictures)?

If no one responds tonite, i can look the price up tomorrow for the plastic shell. Did you get the metal clips to mount the braket? How about the MOST line? You dont have to buy a new mat, when you get the new plastic shell set it in place and trace the outline of it onto the current mat, I use a cutoff wheel, but have used a utility knife before, but you want to cut 1/2 and inch inside this line, so the seam is hidden under the panel.

Either you did your homework, or got lucky, I have seen many people purchase these parts and have them not work because they got the wrong ones, main difference is Bose/non-Bose. Keep in mind you will still need to have the car coded by a dealer so the instrument cluster shows the directions etc.

i've done soem homework, but i guess not enough!

i've installed the PCM already (997.642.141.02) - non-bose, no CD changer

i still have the following parts to install
Navigation drive 997.642.159.01
Bracket 997.642.231.00
MOST cable 997.622.707.00 (from the mounting point of the DVD, it looks like i need a longer one though?)
DVD power cable (don't remember part number)
GPS antenna and cable (don't remember part number)

for the DVD, it looks like i need just a few more hardware to mount it though.
