I'm curious if the PDK dual clutches are covered under the factory warranty with the transmission. Does anyone know yet? I would hope so, since the clutches are operated by the system, not by the driver as in the case of a clutch with a stick shift transmission.

Of course. PCNA market wouldn't stand for this, otherwise. I'm sure it has a normal use guideline as well.
what would prompt you to think otherwise?

You will have to consent to all costs accrued for inspection. If it turns out to be a defect, the factory will pick up those costs. if it is due to miss use then you will have to foot the bill.

with the way this new system is set up, it would be very hard to damage either discs on your own. The technology has been used in race cars since 1986. It took so long to get into the consumer market b/c they finally found a clutch material that wont wear nearly as fast. The race car discs used to be changed after every race.

They are wet clutch-packs, no? Similar to DSG/S-Tronic? Designed to last the life of the car or at least the gearbox I thought.

Just spoke to my Master Tech; he said there is no 'user imput' like a traditional clutch. Theoretically it should last the life of the car. Only due to mechanical malfunction would (again, theoretically) break down. Every time you press to up or down shift- the car is controlling the manner in which it does it.

Will be interesting to see reaction of Porsche (in terms of warranty coverage) to clutch wear which is a product of "excessive" launch control use accessible via Sport Chrono Package Plus.
