I have an occasional rubbing sound coming from the steering wheel. Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to do it more when i'm pulling into or out of a parking space.

If it's the "creaky" sound, my steering does that only in the winter and when the car has been outdoors. Once the car is warm, it goes away. It almost sounds like stretching a spring out.
Does this sound like what you're hearing jw?
One other thing that comes to mind is that sometimes when backing up with the wheels turned, the car almost feels like it's running over a little bump. My understanding is that this is related to the neg camber of the front wheels and is normal on a 997.

It's kind of a creaky/rubbing sound. My only concern is that when my m3 made a similiar sound it was the power steering pump that went. It's not as loud as on the m3 but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a big deal. Thanks

not sure if this is related, but when turning right, i hear a sort of...rubbing/creaking coming from the right side of the dash. and only when TURNING right...never on turning wheel back to center, or turning left. i'm pretty sure it has to do with temperature and tolerances as i only hear it sometimes (altho, since it happens at odd times, i cant even narrow down whether its when car is warm on a cold day, or car is cold on a warm day, etc etc) . anyone else have this?
