Same here, even for the elusive Bridgestone RE050A's in 305 size. Got a good price on the tire. Besides, T/R shows backordered, but dealer got them from T/R.

Damon is awesome. I highly recommend both Damon and Tire Rack.

Porsche is doing everything to shed weight. That seems to be a big factor to many.

I buy from Tire Rack if the local place does not
give me a deal. I will get the price from tire rack and take it
to the local shop. You will be amazed at what you can save.

The big question is, once he uses the spare and mounts it out in the field, where does he put the now blown tire and wheel - say the back one?

Silly off-by-one counting error. I forgot to count my original tires that came on the car... D'oh!

Here's the breakdown:

The first set of rears lasted 9,100 miles.
The second set of rears lasted 7,689 miles.
The third set of rears lasted 6,661 miles.

The first set of fronts lasted 14,000 miles.
The second set of fronts lasted 9,451 miles.

I didn't start tracking my car in earnest until the second set of rears and I believe that's the reason for the accelerated wear that I'm seeing. It's well worth the tire wear to experience the satisfaction and enjoyment of driving the car as it was built to be driven, though. Wouldn't change a thing. The Tire cost does make the track fees seem cheap, though.

True, for sure. An option for us 'tourers' tho would have been welcomed.

Back seat in a construction grade/size black plastic trash bag.

While inconvenient and dirty, it will get you to a shop w/o wasting whatever part of your day waiting on the tow.

[QUOTE=Gundo;5696600]Run flat tires absolutely suck, and aren't an option at this performance level.

I just read that Michelin is coming out with a Pilot Sport Zero Pressure (Run-Flat) to be fitted on the 09 Corvette ZR1That is an interesting development for a performance car. I had GoodYear EMT's on a 94 Corvette, and it was reassuring to know you would never be stranded on an interstate with a flat

It still amazes me how fast UPS moves product for us.

You're welcome!

I also got the wheel and tire insurance. Just had a flat on the rpassenger side ear with 14,000 miles on them and they gave me two new tires. That would have cost me over $1,000.

If you have the tire and wheel insurance and get a flat......and the side walls are trashed will they still replace the tire? Have been thinking about this for awhile! Thanks.

Who did you get the insurance from - the dealer?

The dealer in Bellingham is quoting a 3rd party - and its a limited payout... $2k lifetime benefit for paying $1,500 for 5 years of coverage.

Anyone - whats the cost of repairing a single p wheel after pothole damage (with a rim dent that can be fixed) ?

Getting the insurance is almost betting that I will trash the wheels in 5 years, in the end, to save $500. I'm not sure I can justify that - and my just self-insure.
