Launch Control (racing start function)
Stress on components increases significantly when driving off at maximum
acceleration in comparison with driving off “normally”. In addition, there is a high temperature burden on the components in the clutches. To protect the components in this case, this function is disabled for a distance of 1.5 miles (2,5 km)
after a racing start. During the 1.5 miles (2,5 km) drive, the clutches are cooled with the maximum cooling volume flow.
XM Radio Antenna
The discrete antenna for satellite radio (in vehicle color) is positioned centrally: on the hood compartment lid on the Cabriolet and on the back of the roof on the Coupé.
As a result, the optional rod antenna for improved terrestrial medium-wave reception is now always fitted on the wing at the front right.

Rumour has it that you can only do it 6 times. - that's unconfirmed- but our Tech's that went to training said that they were hinting at that. Sort of a legality issue at this point to figure out me thinks...

Weird. Do the GT2s have that limit too? Or does it have something to do with pdk?

Sort of the same reason we won't run our jet engine starters for more than 30 seconds. Things get hot and it's not good. I have no idea why anyone feels they have a need for launch control.

If one does not care for that, is Sport Chrono Plus still desirable? Any other performance gain that regular Sport Chrono does not offer?

I suspect launch control will hang around for the car mags and bragging rights in terms of 0-60 times. There still are people out there who judge cars by these times and can't understand concepts like steering feedback, transient handling response, etc.

Stick antenna.. thats really needed for AM reception. Who still listens to AM radio other than those special (if light is flashing tune into AM xyz for traffic information) signs by the side of the road - or parking info at disney world... ;-)

6 times, what kind of crap is that? I can understand a cooling off feature, but why make the launch so aggressive if you can't even use it?
Since I ordered sport chrono and PDK I am expecting to launch it. Without that a manual starts to become more appealing.

I seem to recall a similiar limitation by BMW on SMG-equipped E46 M3s in Europe to limit the number of times you could use launch control before it would void your warranty. (or something like that, I never used it since I didn't want to trash my car's drivetrain)
Even though the systems are completely different, same idea.
