I know I've seen a link to the source for the off-center tow hook plate mount, but can't seem to find it. Can anyone lead me in the right direction?

I wouldn't if at all possible. Unlucky for me the factory drilled 4 holes in my bumper for front plate. Nothing even BumperPlugs can fix!@!#%#@!#

Sorry to not get back earlier. (Dealing with fires!)

What I did was to remove the central filler panel and then drill 4 holes in the top part of it and from them mounted 4 bolts,--threads pointing downward. I then took two hinges (gate hinges) and drilled a couple of holes in them so that the hinges would face to the front, with the hinge part up. To the front piece I drilled 4 mounting holes,--smaller ones,--like one ordinarily finds on the painted part of your 911. To that I affix the plate.

The small blue rectangle in my application is for a special decal (DOD).

What I hope to perfect is a SWINGING hinged plate assembly which will, during panic braking (in response to a laser alert) cause the plate to swing upward from the bottom and let the highyl reflective plate effectively break-lock from any lasering being attempted.

Thanks, Pete, for the photos. I ordered one from one of the Rennlisters at half the cost of moweraxle. Apparently, it can be adjusted too to left or right. Appearance-wise they look pretty much the same.

For some reason, the plate on a Cayman looks more off-centered than one on a 911. Maybe the tow-hook is placed more to one side on a Cayman?

I used the moweraxle offset plate holder....i am trying to machine an offset washer to straighten out the plate....otherwise...it's not so bad.

How difficult was it to remove the center panel to drill holes and mount the bolts??

There are two holes on the plate that you can use to move the plate closer to the center.

I'm using the hole that moves the plate as close to the center as possible. The other hole would have blocked off a larger portion of the air intake on the passenger side.

I like it and don't even notice the plate is off center anymore. I do get a lot of comments about it at various Porsche events I've attended. Some like it and others are not so sure.

I've had the plate on it since delivery last Nov. and took it off for my first track day two weeks ago.

Once the plate it on, removing is very easy. One twist of the whole assembly from the tow hook bolt with an adjustable wrench and the plate and bolt come out. No need to unscrew the 4 screws holding the license plate, etc.

I wouldn't drill.. I just passed o a TT that had 2 holes from the bracket and 2 more holes from the tag being mounted with too long of a screw. It was a deal breaker for me.....

Same here. I usually have several cocktails when the pharmaceutical reps take me out for dinner or when I'm having sushi with the boys and I don't want to give the police an excuse to pull me over. Had the dealership do the installation at no cost and with the black porsche plate holder it looks fine.

I just got cited by the CHP for plates. It's a fix it ticket so I just purchased Rolf's tow hook plate so that I can get signed off. I really, really, really don't want to drill into the front of my beautiful GT Silver bumper.

Dan, that's some eye-catching color you got there. Must turn quite a few heads with your 997. With those bolts sticking out from above, it reminds me of a nurse shark ha ha. Thanks for posting your car. Looks great.
