I installed my dension gateway 500 and BTA 1500 this past weekend. I haven't gotten around to routing the mic into the cabin yet, but my phone pairs to the dension just fine. I can dial and receive calls. Phone book didn't download to the dension but I assumed it wouldn't anyway.
Problem is: Every time I start the car, I get the System Error: Phone Not Available message. Then when I click the right dial, it shows that the phone actually is paired just fine. What gives? How do I get rid of this annoying message?
Phone is a Pantech Duo Windows Mobile 6 smart phone if that makes a difference.

I had a similar problem in my cab. I just had the Dension for iPod and audio input, not for phone. However, I got the same message, depending whether I had the Dension switched to the CD Changer position or the iPod/audio input position. In my case, and I suspect in yours, the message relates to not finding the factory phone in the PCM. My cab didn't have that option. If your car doesn't have it, I think the message relates to that phone, not the paired cel phone. I fixed it by selling the car. (Kidding, did sell, but not for that reason of course).

Try pairing a different cell phone, it may be the phone. Upgrade to the latest Dension software, at least 2.10 or 2.11. Delete phone and re-pair.
My system lost my phone once and re-pairing solved it.
That's all I can offer!

larry's got it. Try second phone, and try deleting phone and repairing using phone menu itself too.
Make sure Dension is up to date and phone is up to date.

Thanks.

Absolutely NOT. If you have the factory phone module, it must be disconnected first. Just need to have the phone icon button on the PCM face.

Eric,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
Another question if I may ...
Do you need to have the Phone feature enabled on your PCM for the BTA1500 to work?
And not just work, but without the System Error: Phone Not Available message reported as seen above??
Thanks.

Anytime you put new devices in the loop, it is always best to reprogram the loop using the Porsche System Tester (dealer). Beyond that, it should work just fine.
