As transparent as the awd system is supposed to be on this generation (post 964) Porsche, I feel that the awd cars extra weight and heavier steering feel are a huge compromise at most speeds and in most conditions. The awd cars drive great, but simply don't feel as "Porsche-like" to me. They give a very planted sensation, but the feeling I get is one of being pulled through a turn. Just my 2 cents.

That is a gorgeous cab you have, and it makes me miss my black 05 C2S that I sold 2 months ago. I still miss that car. I opted to get a slightly used 07 Targa 4S, and didn't want the awd but had no choice. The C2S cab felt so nimble and agile and physical. However, I found it noisy on freeway drives. The Targa is much quieter and feels a little more refined (which isn't always a good thing). Actually, the C2S cab is heavier than the Targa 4S, but the Targa steering feels heavier due to the awd.

Why don't you buy a used PSE and have it installed. I just bought one and will install myself when it arrives, although I could likely get it installed for around $400. There is one for sale on 6speedonline for $900 plus shipping. A great price.

Enjoy that beautiful car, and pick up a used PSE, which may only cost you $1500 installed.

I test drove 2005 C4S cab before buying my 2005 C2S cab and the 4 felt heavier to me. I like the light front end on the 2 better. But that's just me... I'm not really a good driver.

The C4S cab is heavier than a C2S cab, a Targa 4S and a C4S coupe. I agree that the rear drive cars feel better.

Wasn't that 2005 Carrera 4S a 996? I don't believe the 997 in AWD came out until the 2006 MY.
