Replacement Tires
Hi,
I am finally due for my first set of replacements. I do not want to spend the $$ for PS2's so what are my other good options? Anyone have the 19's with Brigestones? I apparently have a rare odd size that no one can replace very easily with very few options (don't know why) but every tire store I call says they don't carry this sizes:
F- 235/35-19's
R - 295/30/19's
Can I put any other size than the ones that are on there now?
Also Bridgestones make the RE050A's and RE960AS Pole Positions. Are these good tires? Anyone have exprerience with them? Which one of the two is beter?
Thanks,
Jon

If you want to save some money get the N Spec Bridgestone RE050A. You should be able to get them for about $1300. out the door including mounting, balancing, tax etc. I heard they are very good.

I went through 2 sets of PS2's, but just went with a new set of Bridgestone N Spec RE050's about 3-4 weeks ago. So far I am very pleased with them. (Same sizes as yours.)

The bridgestones dont handle as well as the Michelins. They last alot longer but you sacrifice your performance. If thats ok for you then there you have it, better cost and better treadlife, worse handling.
The Toyo R888s are getting good reviews from the track crowd. I am going to look at them after I go through my MPS 2's

Old Guy, Toyo R888's can be run on thee street but these would not be a good choice for a everyday street tire. They are noisy...very loud and not as good on the highway in the rain as stock tires that come on 997S like Michelin, Bridgestone and Pirelli's. R888's are a heck of a great track tire for advanced solo DE drivers. I am currently on the Toyo RA1's for the track and will most likely be on Toyo R888 this summer or maybe the Nitto NT01.

BTW, my street tires are Michelin PS2. For my street driving I will go with th Bridgestone RE050A next to try them out andd they cost SO much less!

Love the Bridgestones which came on my Cabriolet. If I'm missing some performance capability by not having the Michelins on the car I'm not good enough to exploit them. The bonus with the Bridgestones is their longer tire life.

I had some RE050A's on my S2000 and they were great tires. But when they wear down, they wear down fast. You have to know when to buy some new ones or you will just go from grip to no grip in a week.

Currently rolling on the Bridgestones', which for street purposes have more than enough performance and decent durability. Having recently come off the stock Pirelli's, I would say they're pretty close with the exception of the Bridgestones' being a notch louder.
