Update:
Callers still reporting intermittent echo with BB set to "echo cancellation = Off". Echo Cancellation =ON causes intermittent loss of ability to hear caller but they hear me???
I have to do some more testing and validate unit is at most current firmware levels. Lastly will test with mic in alternate mount locations. (A pillar, Dome light, etc..)

Thanks for the snap--that's all that was needed. I may be hunting and testing when my new mike arrives with the updated (s/w) Tooki.

All,
Here's my post on NAV-TV forums on my resolution with Echo issues. Now if I can only figure out how to designate only specific categories of contacts to synch with PCM phonebook!

Hi Tony,
You do present so good points to my suggestions. Along that note...
1) Echo Issue: Worked with one of your techs (Bob. great guy and VERY helpful). While driving we had a call up and tested a couple of scenarios. In the end what worked was:
- BB Bold config: Echo = Off (Will test with "on" later for comparison), Encryption = Off, Volume all way up on hand-held
- Mic placement: "Stuffed" between Speedo & Temp/Oil Gauge (see Pics)
- PCM Volume control: Max setting is with "dot" on dial straight up (90 degrees). Beyond that, remote caller began to notice echo.

I just installed my updated Tooki unit along with their latest microphone. I elected to install the mike this time in the A pillar area--emanating from the tiny closure plug that supports the left sunvisor. (The wire for it is snaked along underneath the door seal rubber). So far indications are fine, but will report more as I have some time to play with it under road conditions.
I have a minor addendum to the installation procedures. I have noticed that the side pieces to the PCM have a small retaining clip that runs the length of them just along the edge of the front sides of the PCM. That plastic clip should be pushed upward before you reinstall the side pieces, and once snapped into place, they have a small tab that should be pressed downward to lock them better into position. I used a very thin standard screwdriver to push them down. They don't appear too critical, however.

Hi Dan,
So I too have a cab with new mic but as I previously posted, I tucked my mic between Driver Speedo/Tach Gauges for following reasons:
1) "Shield" from front dash speakers when remote caller is speaking as not have mic pick up their speech and induce echo.
2) Stealth look
Curious, is you mic just "hanging" their or hold did you secure it? As the clip that came with mic is rather larger and seems designed to go on visor (like a garage door remote clip).
Also, how is your audio quality to remote caller with mic in current position with the top down? Wind noise an issue?
For my testing I placed a few test calls to my voicemail and played back from office phone.

I wrapped the somewhat loose cable near the mike with some rather high tech stuff (yellow in pic) to better secure it. I had it located before in the factory spot. Always had to talk into the steering wheel before.
The mike is quite secure. It comes in through that small closure panel that is used to secure the left side of the visor.
Audio quality appears much better in limited trials. Will continue to test and advise.

Contact Eric (Mr. Bumper Plugs) and I'll bet that he can advise. The key is to have a daisy chain of fiber optics on the MOST ring. The design can support quite a few peripherals.

I am yet to do a BT/iPod kit, but from all indications and research, I think I'd be going with mObridge. It's a one kit for both iPod/BT, AND, it has a dual microphone (similar to OEM mic), one picks the sound, the other background noise... I've heard this setup reduces echo/noise quite a bit.
Anyone installed one lately? reviews are a bit old now.

I recently installed the MoBridge with the dual mic mounted up near the left a pillar/visor in my c2s coupe. The mic pickup doesn't isolate voice from cabin noise well. People say they cannot hear me talking at highway speeds, my voice being drowned out by a roaring wind background noise.
