I always associated Gold with pimping Escalades or ladies' Lexus SUVs .. but Gold is history with Porsche, no? Gotta go with history.

28 USC 1399 (a)(2)(ii)(4) prohibits tampering with any original Porsche badging which displays the "crest." Once your 997 left the factory and entered US customs, the vehicle in and of itself became a copyrighted and trademarked work and any effort to modify the car's hood badging is a violation of federal, and where applicable, state, intellectual property laws. Changing your hood badging is tantamount to defacing the jacket of a best-selling novel to refllect your own name instead of the author's. I'm not necessarily saying that you're looking at any jail time, but I wouldn't be surprised if you receive a cease and desist letter from the manufacturer. Of course, I'm kidding. =) I think the silver crest looks awesome, especially on the dark grey background. Enjoy in good health.

Gold lettering set the early cars apart. Show me a 356 with silver lettering or a early 911 with the same . I have gold lettering trying to duplicate and remember my 1962 356 cab s. The thought of an escalade or a lexus never entered my mind.

Umm, which part were you kidding about, the part about receiving a cease and desist letter?

The first two sentences of your post sounded pretty legit to me.

I snapped to attention and saluted when you ran it up the flagpole.

Hi Points,
You had your Carrera script done in gold - was that a custom paint or had you found a vendor who had this ready-made? I’m seeking to do the same for my Cayman S and there is nothing out there when I search Google and Pinterest and forums.

Kind of good, it may mean it’s actually a custom job not often seen. And so the Back i guess I’ll seek just what flavor of gold color to use. Fun problem, I just want to execute it well.

Any help appreciated since it seems you may have been down this road yourself.

I have silver to play with the Seal Gray. The hood, wheel, and fender shields all match.

Depends on how the rest of the car is done up. On my seal grey 996, I was slowly working on "greying" it out - mild tint, black chrome tips, black & white wheel caps, titanium hood crest...
