I didn't get a discount on mine. But when I bought it last fall dealers everywhere had '07 red ones. I think porsche gave the dealers a lot of guards red.

I have a neighbor who bought a new red targa S for a HUGE discount as the dealer could not move it. I think it listed 110K at he got it for 85K, or something like that.

Beautiful car, too bad you have to part with it.
One of the reasons I didn't get a targa is because of the history of poor resale values. When I bought my c2s in December of 07 there were HUGE discounts on 07 targas (non-S) in basalt black. I found 2 dealerships in California with 15K off MSRP for 07 targas. With that in mind I would lean towards trade-in if feasible. It may be a protracted effort to go the private party route.

Wow, thanks for the info. I had no idea that they were giving these cars away. I think I may just keep it afterall. The opportunity was to pick up a Gallardo on the cheap. It looks, in hindsight, that everything is going 'on the cheap' these days.

Look out for $4 a gallon fuel. Going to really hurt the domestic market even more.

That might be your best bet is to go through another brands dealer. Sometimes they dont have the best knowledge on other cars market and you may (MAY) get a much better trade in on your car. You may get a less than knowledgeable new Lambo salesman and he goes"OH BOY A PORSCHE" Looks up the MSRP on an 08 and shoots his wad on your car. Just DONT give up any info.

BTW California RAPES you both ways. ON the trade in on the sale, for eating lunch with the dealer, for breathing, for being awake etc etc.

Have a very good freindship with my dealer and he just had another dealer want to sell him a Targa that only had 1500 miles on it and it was an S. He offer them $70K for it and it stickered for closed to $100K, but also told them he really even didnt want the car, they have become almost impossible to sell, just no demand. The non S Targa is worse and unfortunalty right now is probobly one of the fastest depreciating cars in Porsche's line-up. Sorry, just giving you the facts, good luck though, there is always an *** for the seat somewhere.

No worries. Thanks for the info. I really love the car and won't mind at all if it remains unpopular.
