Placing license plate on dashboard

In the two 997's I've test driven (and bought) they put the dealer plate on the floor.
Why doesn't some enterprising person come up with a product that puts the plate image on some sort of sticky plastic film that we could stick on the front of our car? All they'd need is a .jpg of the plate, they could make the stick on and mail it to us. I think I've seen something like that in Europe, don't know if it's available here.

My front plate resides between the passenger seat and the center console. If I ever get stopped, I plan to plead the "Sorry, officer, I've got it right here...it came off a few days ago and unfortunately I haven't had a chance to reattach it..."
Of course, I've gotten stopped since I came up with this master plan, and the cop only wanted to chat about the car and how many of them he "raced" on the Autobahn in Germany...not a word about the plate or other ticket...
