I just got back from Parade Charlotte, and had a chance to speak with some of the people from Porsche AG about the real time traffic overlays for the current PCM. The new 997.2 PCM will offer real time overlays via XM radio. The current PCM does not support this. It works in Europe due to a different way of receiving the signal, which is not available in the US. Subscribing to the service mentioned earlier in the thread is not possible with the current PCM. Sorry for the bad news.

But there is no technical reason it could not work. There is an FM tuner in the car. (I'm assuming its an FM HD tuner... if not, that might be a problem). There is software driving the nav system.. its just a matter of gluing it all together. Now it may well be that in the US, the digital nav/traffic data is encrypted in the stream, and Porsche would need to buy a license to get a decrypt key or something...
