Default 997 Fuchs wheels?

Okay, a random thought. I have always and forever will be a huge fan of the very classic Fuchs wheels from the late 60's and 70's. The polished spoke ones, as opposed to the black ones from the 80's.

The beautiful and almost retro look of the 997 would be very striking with the polished fuchs wheels. At least I think it would...

Anyone feel like doing a photoshop and posting here?

Any possibility to create an 18 or 19 inch Fuchs look wheel?

What you're asking for is somewhat complex in today's situation. I believe that Fuchs Racing has finally come up with to what you area referring. That's why I'm firmly behind what they are doing. Designing a Fuchs windmill pattern wheel in the 19 or even 20 inch diameter changes much. Also, today's different offsets require a skilled designed to give the appearance of a deep dish wheel, yet not be so deep as to conflict with the inner workings, e.g., brake functionality. When Porsche went to the flat dish wheel (by Fuchs, BTW) for the 1989 964 cars, they did it out of necessity. The larger brake calipers were in a conflict zone with the earlier Fuchs deep dish wheels. Something had to move, and Fuchs lost.

However, today, it is possible to design what you are seeking, and Fuchs Racing has been working on that design for several years. They have been able to achieve it through some optical slight-of-hand, and careful design work. I hope to have a real photo that I can show you soon, but in the meantime I will put back up this PhotoShop job (not that great) to give you an idea of what is being done.

I think we'll start to see print ads in about 2-3 weeks. They state "Fall 2010" availability.

I started this post more than 2 years ago! I was apparently ahead of my time.
