OT: Anybody NOT want a Ferrari?

The problem with a Ferrari is I couldn't take it anywhere and park it. My 997 already gets more attention than I want, but it's much more usable than a Ferrari. That's why so many F-cars are garage queens. Their owners buy to own, not to drive.

Ferraris may be "just" twice or thrice as expensive as a 997 but given that they are not as durable or reliable, and all around less practical to drive, the "cost per (s)mile" is much more. I would rather, say, buy a villa in Provence and stock it with it's own P-car.

Guys, a modern day Ferrari is built to be as reliable as any other high performance car. No more engine-out service, etc. This myth that these cars fall apart or need an engine re-build every couple of hundred miles is nonsense.
While most F-car owners don't put a lot of miles on their cars, there are PLENTY of guys on Fchat who have BIG miles on their F430's and use them as DD's. The cost of ownership while in warranty is not outrageous.

I would love a 430. However, currently it is outside my budget. But then again, when I bought my C2S, I tought a TT was beyond reach. Now I have my TT. But I think I'd rather stick with a TT, GT3 or GT2 over a Ferrari. Ferrari's just attract too much attention. I love the fact that the TT is under the radar most of the time.

Well I guess I'm still 10 years old in heart then, because the F430 still makes me weak in the knees. I love Porsche and as soon as I get my 07 M5 sold, I'll be back into a 911 of some sort. HOWEVER, Ferrari does something to me that Porsche just can't do (exception being the Carrera GT). Everything about the F430 is just spot-on perfect in my eyes. I don't think you need millions to buy one either, it would be high on my list sooner than a lot of other things. I do buy my cars outright, so as soon as the petty cash drawer gets to the cash value of a Ferrari I like, I'm In!!!! The yearly maintaince I would have no problem with. If I weren't starting another business, I'd be talking to dealers now. I'm planning for about ~ 4 years from now and probably the successor to the F430...I hope.

I dunno, they're cool, and the sound will send shivers down my spine, but I would never part with that much to own one. You can buy a few special cars for the price of just one.
I'd be much more likely to buy a motorcycle.
Also a very scintillating driving experience.

I like the older Ferraris, the 360/430/599/612 are great cars, but I still prefer the older styling. My 308 is a blast to drive. It is 25 years old and is still exciting. If it's a nice sunny day just to drive around, I take the 308. If it's a drive with the wife/daughter or short road trip, 997 gets taken.
Ferrari maintenance can be expensive, but the 308 is old enought to be mechanical rather than electronic, so many things I've fixed myself and saved a lot of time/money. Big maitenance like the timing belts I have done by an independent garage.

I agree with the others who've stated, in essence, that I'd want one only as a 3rd or 4th car that was only driven on sunny days where I didn't have to park it in public lots, etc. Too high-maintenance (literally and figuratively) for my taste, plus I prefer stealth to bling (even my Porsches have all been under-the-radar colors).
However, I've always liked the aggressive elegance of the 550/575 series, so that'd be the way I'd go if I could swing 3-4 cool cars. As it is, I have no real ambitions beyond always having the latest & best 911 I can afford.

The history of the company, their racing heritage, the sexy curves, the sound, the coolness factor, the uniqueness...all these factors make a Ferrari the ultimate for me.
If I had mad money, I'd buy a Ferrari in a heartbeat. I would choose it over ANY other car make....I don't care if a Veyron is faster in a line (or curves for that matter) or a CGT laps the ring faster. Ferrari for me.
It would clearly be a 3rd or 4th car. Only to be taken out on nice days, never parked in public lots. I'd take extra special care of it, keep it polished and shiney all the time. I would truely be 100% car-satisfied with a mid-engined V8 Ferrari.

I definitely will own a Ferrari and a Lambo one day when all the kids have moved out of the house, but for sure they will be garage queen as I don't want the attention when parked on the street. Will always be using Porsche as daily driver as well.

I had the pleasure of hearing an F430 revved up in neutral while I was next to him in a long tunnel recently (the cassiar connector for you vancouver folks) - just thinking about it gives me goosebumps and butterflies...![bowdown](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/bowdown.gif)
Then he took off and easily did over 200km/h and he was gone.
If you guys could see me now you'd see me grinning stupidly and all giddy.
