Dealer's throwing in the 3M clear bra, what coverage should I ask for?

The markup on these jobs can be incredible as you might guess. I was lucky and got a third of the hood and front fenders, all the front bumper and mirrors for 400. Later I paid 600 for the rear bumper, all wheel wells, the leading edge of my rear spoiler and a third of the roof. Two different installers.

I have a 2004 CS with clear 3m bra and almost 88K miles on it. It looks absolutely brand new with the exception of one spot that got hit by a rock down low. Based on my experience with the CS I am getting the same on my new C4S just going a 1/3 with the line. The dealer is throwing it in and I am happy with the performance of the one I have I see no reason to go overboard. One note : believe it or not the film on the mirrors caused whistling and had to remove it!

I know I'm in the minority here, but make sure you look at a car with clear bra installed before you do it. I don't like the look of it and personally would rather have the occasional rock chip repaired than look at the clear bra every day. Just my opinion.

I'm not positive what brand my dealer used, but after 2.5 years, I'm not that pleased - while it's protected paint chips, it now looks hazy and dull while the paint still looks good. In addition, where it's saved my paint from larger debris scratches, it permanently scratched the film instead! I know paint chips and blemishes are not fun, but from afar, what I notice is the hazy film, not the little chips. Not sure there's a good answer, just thought I'd chime in, cause the thought of hazy, dull film all over my car makes me nauseous!

See, this is what perplexes me about the whole Clear Bra issue: if the car is fully wrapped with a condom-like covering, don't you lose some of the sensation...of detailing the car, and making the paint shine, etc.?

it actually makes it a lot easier to clean with the latest generation films.

Not if you go for the ribbed protection.

Thanks for the suggestion - I've been wondering if there would be any sort of warranty.
By the way, those pics look great, although I thought my car looked great too immediately after being done. Do you have any pics of 2+ year-old film? Is there any way to "re-condition" film (analogous to buffing out paint)?

Nope no pictures - we rarely see the cars back here unless the film needs to be replaced due to an accident. We see cars at our annual Customer Appreciation Days and cars that were done 4-5 yrs ago looks as good as the day it was done. It comes down to the type of film being used - if it is a non-coated film, you will see fading or haziness in 1 or 2 yrs.

I'll have to ask the dealer to email me some pics of the installer's work as I'm in Boston and the car will arrive and be clearbra'd before I move to Chi to pick it up, most likely.
