Default HELP! Backed into a mail box...

It made a small indentation in the rear bumper above the license plate. Any ideas about how to get it out? I thought above putting a hair dryer on it.

Is the paint cracked? If not and hair dryer might work, but it may not get hot enough to be able to pop the dimple back out. You could take it to a repair place if the hair dryer doesn't do the trick.

A ding?...I'd just sell it and get something else...it will never drive the same again, especially if you also have tiny chips in your hood....

Check out Rick in Colorado's thread (serendipity??) just posted:

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/410430-diy-dent-removal.html

Concept seems sound - heat then quickly shrink causing the body panel to seek equilibrium (original position). If you try it, pls advise if it works.

Caveat: Credit (and blame) to Rick if it doesn't

Beat me too it!! Yes, you can try that trick so long as it's not on the urathane part as that will not fix the problem.

I'm one as well. Why the hell I went back to black bothers me, but once I see it clean, there's nothing like it at night.

Maybe I should have gone with a more louder color like a GT3/RS color.

Excuse me while I go and remove the dust that just landed on my black finish.

Default Damage with pictures

The dent is so minor that I don't think it will show up in a photo. I know it's there but you would really have to look for it if you didn't know it was there.

If it is that small then I would imagine a little heat will probably induce it to return to its original shape. A good repair shop will probably have a heat gun and could work their magic in 20 - 30 minutes.

If you notice the dent, then that's all that matters. I had a similar issue -- when I had my radar detector installed, it wasn't placed properly inside the bumper and was pressing out against the bumper to create a small bump. I took it in to a high end repair shop, and they heated the bumper and the pimple was gone. I highly doubt that a hair dryer will generate sufficient heat to fix the dent.

Porsche's don't get "pimples" - they get "blemishes"...
