"Crunching" sound at low speed turning radius

Anyone experience a CRUNCH or GRIND sound on a 997 C2S when cranking the steering at low speed, (Like U-turn or exiting a parking spot)?
My last car was a 996 C4S and it had it's own idiosynchrasies, but I don't remember this sound...
It sounds like its coming from the steering parts at the front. Can't tell if it's right or left sided...
Eager to hear from others!

Ian,
I have noticed this in the past 6 months with my car but the dealership couldn't reproduce the sound. I was wondering if the tires were rubbing slightly in the fender wells.

My crunch occurs after I have backed out of the garage and I am turning the wheel back to the right at almost zero speed. At first, I thought I had caught a lava rock from the landscaping under the tire.
I have never heard this noise at any other time and I have tracked the car a few times without issue.
I have assumed that it is a tire noise studder as it twists on the pavement.
I have the 19" P-Zeros, you?

Exactly the same thing. It happens only when cold. It almost sounds like a spring being stretched out....very strange but does not seem to cause any problem. I'm going in for my 2-year physical at Ira on Wednesday and will ask them to comment on it.

I have been at Ira recently and asked the same question. Chris, the service manager, explained that the camber on the front tires is adjusted so that when you turn tightly, it actually forces the tires to lean slightly on their side walls. Apparently, it's perfectly normal (though sounds a bit scary, like you're rubbing the wide tires against the wheel well), and the sound is louder when the tires are cold. But I'd like to hear other opinions as well.

I notice it on mine as well - feels like a stutter and I've only had the car in cold weather so I don't know if it will be there in summer yet. Only with the wheel cranked all the way over, and I don't think anything of it.

I've only noticed it when backing out of my garage in the mornings and turning (steering wheel to the right) into the street, and over the small lip between the driveway and the street. It usually feels like something is caught under the wheel and causing the tire to squirm. I assumed it was just those fat tires and their castor/camber angles, although my C55 similarly "tucks" the wheels when turned, but never noticed it doing this. Perhaps its front end weight helps.
