Default Ideas on WINGS (and availability)

Guys:
I have a FACTORY aerokit in silver on my 06 Carrera. Does anyone have a Techart type III rear wing (or similar) they'd like to work a swap on? (I know, I know I can hear the purists now...)

As you know the factory GT3-style aerokit is all one piece including the decklid, so I'd need a wing, and decklid etc.

Ideas? Schemes?

See photos.

Aero kit looks better in my opinion plus it is very functional and race proven. Stay with it...maybe get the carbon wing insert for it. Spend the money on some wheels.

I agree. Wind tunnel tested WITH the car by Porsche.

If you want, Farnbacher-Loles has a carbon fiber center for these Aerokit/GT3 wings.

I would do the wheels/tires or exhaust first. Maybe more customer interior accents.

The Aerokit is not cheap. Sure, you can switch it out for aftermart, but you really do not know how it will react with the car at speed. Some claim they have data on it's effect. I'm not too sure how accurate it may be.

Unhappy yabbut

I know all the technical reasons for keeping it. I've driven these beasts for 20 years and it's just a little too "ricer" for me. Not to mention I'm CONSTANTLY rechecking over my right shoulder thinking there is a big silver SUV in the next lane because the thing sticks up so high.

I much prefer the profile of the turbo wing.

And yes, I fully intend to do the wheels (hate them...)

+1 on the wheels. Forget the wing unless you are looking to go airborne.

I know what you mean as to the ricer look. You may have the same problem where every rice'd-out car comes along tailgating or attempting to pass etc. Some see the wing in the rear as a bit "overkill" and a bit rice'd-out.

Since you don't care for high-speed stability, then go with whatever aftermart wing looks good to you. It's your car, drive it and make it look the way you want.

This is the wing i'm currently leaning toward for my new 4S. It's subtle and i think it doesnt take away from the cars rear lines to much and doest scream rice. The last thing i want to have happen is some kid walking up to my car and saying, "Dude, thats an awsome wing bro, almost like the one I have on my Civic"

Didnt realize someone made a knockoff though. Whats the cost any idea?

Ian, as a point of clarification, the wing shown in the pics of the Carmon Red Car is a Techart rear spoiler III. It is not a knockoff.

HAve you checked with Misha? He is a site sponsor. Misha911

Here is a link to a post on the 996 Forum that Benjamin Choi posted of his new Misha wing. Post #8 shows the wing installed.

Misha GTM wing

While that may not be the wing you like, you could contact Ben for his impressions of the fit and finish quality.

How do you know it's real and not a knock-off? The guy who's seling them said it's one of his reproductions...

I agree, don't really care for the Boy Racer look.

With the Techart wing as shown on the Carmona Red car (beautiful--my favorite), do you need a new decklid, or does it add onto the original decklid?
Does the motorized spoiler stay functional, or is it deactivated?
Does the wing block visibility of the third, high brake light?
