Is that all that a DME scan tells someone?

Mitch - It's a dealer car.

There should be no indicators over level one or two imo. If you experienced engine malfunction and the dealer printed that report he would likely void warranty repair(or at least make your life miserable). Why should you buy this car? Look further.

If the factory will CPO it then you have a business decision.

After 29,700 kilometers my working log showed the following:

Range 1--5938; Range 2--235; Range 3--55; Range 4--1 and then zeros above that. Operating hrs were 475.600 My Porsche service advisor reported to me that none of that was an issue. I drive aggressively shifting at redline and have NEVER downshifted at the wrong time.

Another dealer told me that even if the car is CPO-ed, should there be engine problems in the future, Porsche NA may still void the warranty based on the overspeeds in ranges 4, 5 and 6. He consulted with his service manager and Porsche NA. I guess that facilitates my decision, making it more of a black-and-white issue, rather than a business decision with varying degrees of gray. My verdict is "nay".

Thanks for all the posts on this - very, very helpful.

Say you buy a CPO'd car and don't bother with the DME check. Motor gives up the ghost and Porsche says too bad because it had over rev's at X hours operating time and those over rev's happened prior to your purchase. Porsche certified it. Shouldn't they be responsible?

That's why I asked if it was a dealer selling the CPO car or a privateer selling a previously CPO'd car because that is the big difference. If the dealer certifies the car and later (when a warrrantee claim comes up) the dealer tries to deny the claim because of over-revs that occured before you bought the car, they can be held liable.
