The Sport Design wheels on my 997S have some minor curb rash on a couple of wheels (by previous owners of course). Any suggestions for removing and touching up the paint? I presume the Porsche Dealer sells the silver touch-up paint. I'm considering some careful filing of the rash areas, then touching up the paint. Anyone done this successfully?

Porsche does not sell touch up paint for the wheels. I checked at the dealer. I used some old silver touch up paint from a Lexus we used to own and it is about 97% color match. Not perfect but neither is touching up with a brush. For a perfect touch up take it to a wheel repair shop. Probably about 125 or so per wheel.

Wurth makes a silver paint in a spray can that matches silver german wheels. There is an article on DIY curb rash repair here: http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/w...uff-repair.htm
I have tried the method described on my Boxster wheels and had good results. Make sure you let the primer dry enough as well as the paint. A warm temperature in your workspace will help significantly. John

Most Dealers have a mobile wheel repair speciaslist that they work with. These guys charge about $60 - $75 per wheel and they do a decent job which will be far superior to whatever anyone does via touch-up paint. Check with your Dealer for a contact.

This is a good wheel rash repair article that I've had bookmarked for some time - I know I'm going to need it at some point!
Good luck - let us know what you do and the cost and results, please.

Depending on how bad it is, Al Reed Wheel Polishing in Anaheim does excellent work. I have used him several times for polished wheels, but he also does epoxy painting as well.

I am so **** retentive about my cars that I won't buy a car with road rash on the wheels. I know I have a problem. There are just so many cars out there
that finding the right one is not so hard. Dealing with issues like this on a used car is just not worth it You know a scratch here a nick there. Dammmittttttttt.
